Release Spring 2011 available

I am happy to announce the latest release of MATSim ("Spring 2011"). This release is mostly a maintenance release: Several things got faster (e.g. public transport router), use less memory (e.g. large networks) or just have fewer bugs. In addition, it includes support for a newer population-file format and some configuration changes.

The newer population file format ("population_v5.dtd") is now available, but not yet used by default when writing population files. This change will likely happen in the next release.

The most notable configuration changes are:

  • Events are now written in an xml-format by default, instead of the txt-format used before. The txt-format was a relict from days ago and no longer suitable for newer types of events generated when simulating public transport or using withinday-replanning, amongst other features. Thus, the default was changed to XML.
  • Events will now only be written every 10th iteration, instead of every iteration.

More detailed information about the changes can be found in the release notes accompanying the release.
