The 2nd MATSim Tutorial and User Meeting, Zurich, May 2010

This year's MATSim Tutorial and User Meeting will be held taking place from 17th to 20th May in Zurich.

Program

Location

Both the MATSim tutorial and user meeting are held at the main building of ETH Zurich (Rämistr. 101, 8092 Zurich). The MATSim tutorial takes place in the room HG E 23. The MATSim user meeting takes place in room HG F 26.1.

Hard- and Software

Participants of the tutorials should bring their own laptops. Please make sure that the software in the following list is installed on your laptop:

• Operating system
  You can use the operating system (OS) of your own choice. Guidance can be provided for the following OS in the course of the tutorial: Windows XP or newer, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux such as Debian, Ubuntu.
  Note: If possible, have administrative rights for the laptop you bring along. They might be required for the installation of a missing program or the modification of some computer setting.
• Web browser
  Make sure a web browser such as Mozilla Firefox is installled on your laptop.
  
• File archiver
  A program to handle file archives (*.zip, *.gz) is required. While such a tool is typically bundled with Mac OS X and GNU/Linux, it has to be manually installed for Windows. A recommended tool for Windows is 7-Zip, for which guidance can be provided during the tutorial.
• Java
  Download and install the newest version of the "Java SE Development Kit" (JDK 6.0 Update xy) from java.sun.com. Make sure you choose the JDK, not only the JRE (Java Runtime Environment)!
• Eclipse
  Download and install Eclipse, the development environment which is used in the course of the tutorial. It can be downloaded from eclipse.org. The package "Eclipse IDE for Java Developers" is sufficient for our needs.
• Google Earth
  In order to save time during the tutorial, it is recommended, that you download and install Google Earth from earth.google.com

Registration

The registration desk for the tutorial is located at HG E 23 and will be open on Monday from 9:00 to 9:25. For those only participating in user meeting, registration will be available at room HG F 26.1 on Wednesday from 13:35 to 13:55.

Workshop Dinner

The workshop dinner (for participants of the tutorial) will be on Tuesday, 19:00 at the restaurant "Zum Alten Löwen", located at the Universitätsstrasse 111, 8006 Zurich. From the ETH main building you can get there either by foot or by taking the trams 9 or 10. The restaurant is located between the tram stops "Winkelriedstrasse" and "Seilbahn Rigiblick".
